Greendale managed to halve last year's losing margin but the result was nonetheless the same as De La Salle, Churchtown, triumphed at Templeogue College yesterday.

De La Salle made the most of the wind advantage in the opening period with a fine display of kicking from centre, Noel Barnes, seeing them 12 points up at half-time.

Barnes landed three difficult kicks from the left touchline in addition to a more central penalty and he showed he had more to his game when he gave the final pass to his midfield partner, John Moran, for Churchtown's first try in the second-half.

Vice captain, Derek Cluskey, operating at number eight, added two more tries late in the game.
