Annaghdown hold nerve

Annaghdown ... 0-9 Mountbellew-Moylough ... 0-8: Defending champions Annaghdown came from behind to secure victory in a tense Galway football semi-final at Tuam Stadium yesterday before a crowd of about 3,000. They will play Corofin in the final.

Annaghdown led at half-time by 0-7 to 0-5 but looked in trouble when three early second-half points from Derry O'Brien (two) and Alan Duffy put Mountbellew ahead for the first time.

However, a double Annaghdown substitution involving the introduction of Kevin Keane and Morgan Duggan changed the balance of the match while county under-21 star Damien Burke landed two pressure frees as Mountbellew faltered in the final quarter.

SCORERS: Annaghdown: D Burke 0-4, M Melia, M Newell 0-2 each, S Kavanagh 0-1; Mountbellew: D O'Brien 0-5, M Higgins 0-1, J Bergin 0-1, A Duffy 0-1.
