Clonmel Commercials ... 1-14 Aherlow ... 1-5 Favourites Clonmel Commercials powered their way to their first Tipperary senior football title since 1994 at Thurles yesterday.

Commercials' use of the ball was far superior to that of their opponents and, with midfielders Eamon Hanrahan and Fergal O'Callaghan dominating, their attack received a steady supply.

Even though they started against the breeze, Commercials led 0-6 to 0-2 at the break.

An Aherlow goal by Lionel Leonard 11th minutes into the second half raised Aherlow hopes. However, Commercials weathered the storm with a string of points and Ian Barnes set the seal on their win with a goal in the 28th minute.
