Sir, - We are so lucky to have the Irish Times Weekend section to savour and to excite our imaginations. Lying abed on Sunday morning after two weeks' absence from Ireland with no opportunity to engage in anything but crude practicalities, I relished the thoughts and words of Eileen Battersby, Declan Kiberd and Fintan O'Toole, and of the book reviewers who frustrate one into buying books that one has no time to read.
The Weekend section nudges Irish art and literature into an international context and out of self-indulgent Dublin 4. Credit must go not only to the editor but to the lay-out designers who make it a compelling read.
Life is too short for colour supplements. - Yours, etc.,
