Sir, - I can never understand why the Dublin-Wexford-Rosslare line has not been advertised as a tourist attraction.
From the Merrion Gates, it follows the sea coast of Dublin Bay, round Bray Head and across the coastal marshes to Wicklow. It then passes through the Vale of Avoca, where eight or more railway bridges cross the river. Only the 25-30 miles from Arklow to Ferns could be called "ordinary" farmland.
At Ferns the line meets the Leinster Bann and soon afterwards, at Scarawalsh, the River Slaney, which it follows past Enniscorthy, through the Deeps to Ferrycarrig and on to Wexford - an attractive town and a good shopping centre.Beyond Wexford are Rosslare Strand and Rosslare Harbour.
This line should be making money, not losing it. - Yours, etc.,
C. WALKER, Ballygar, Roscommon.
