Sir, – In my (non-scientific) opinion, Ireland has so many jaywalkers because of the length of time it takes for a pedestrian light to turn green. I can press the button on my local pedestrian light, nip across the road on red, pick up that day’s Irish Times, and take advantage of the green man on my return crossing. – Yours, etc,
