Madam, - C. Walker (October 10th) extols the tourism potential of the Dublin-Rosslare rail line. Perhaps I could appraise readers of our Railtours Ireland operation which is now in its fifth year of partnership with Iarnród Éireann.

We recognise the tourism potential of the Dublin-Rosslare line and every day we carry groups of tourists down the magnificent coastal section to Wicklow town, where we swing westwards into the mountains to Rathdrum. There, as in the heyday of Victorian railway tourism, we detrain into waiting road transport to Glendalough and the Vale of Avoca.

On this route alone this year we will generate about 25,000 passenger journeys for Iarnród Éireann, filling empty seats and generating much needed revenue. - Yours, etc.,
