Madam, - There has been a good deal of debate on the radio recently on the wisdom or otherwise of large weddings and the costs associated with them.
As much as I love to look and feel my best, especially on such a big day as my wedding, I just cannot understand the reason for spending thousands on fashionable accessories that will be a distant memory in a few years' time.
The truth is that the most important thing on a wedding day is the love shared between the bride and groom, not how much their outfits cost. So why should it seem necessary to splash out on €20,000 on a Vera Wang dress, accompanied with red roses dotted with Swarovski diamonds and a 26-carat whopper on your finger?
There is no need to splash out on these "snob goods" to compete with the next wedding; it is simply a waste of money that may be needed in years to come. So why bother? - Yours, etc,
