Sir, – I note with interest that all of the telephone companies that pleaded guilty to overcharging their customers – Eircom, Vodafone and Three Ireland – explained that it resulted from "human and system error" (July 28th). This may well be an entirely plausible explanation for the mistreatment of the public. I have seen little, if any, reporting of "human and systems error" benefiting the public. I wonder what, if any, conclusion the public may draw from this disparity? – Yours, etc,
