Madam, - The letter from Tim O'Malley, TD concerning suicide prevention (September 16th) calls to mind Margaret Thatcher's words, "There is no such thing as society". For, having taken our lead from Mrs Thatcher and her ilk, what we seem to have in Ireland today is not a society but an economic system.
Regarding various suicide prevention measures cited by Tim O'Malley, how can relatively minuscule amounts hived off from a miserly national health budget compensate for the severe depredations, mental and physical, of the victims of a greed-driven, unjust economic system? - Yours, etc.,
