Madam, - Sinn Féin has indeed made a historic breakthrough in electing two members to the European Parliament last month.
However, I think a great majority of the Irish people, and indeed very significant numbers of their own voters, would be disgusted to hear of their antics before the new European Parliament has even convened.
They have affiliated themselves to the European United Left/Nordic Green Group (GUE/HGL) group.
Whilst very innocent-sounding at first, the group is effectively a communist one.
It contains some of the oldest communist parties in Europe, ones which maintained intimate links with the Soviet Union until that evil empire collapsed under its rotten foundations over a decade ago.
These parties aspire to rule their countries in the same manner as the last five remaining communist states - the People's Republic of China, Vietnam, North Korea, Cuba, and Laos.
I know of no elector in my own community or in any part of Ireland who has such a vision for our island nation, or the European Union.- Yours, etc,
