Madam, - In the past I have complained when RTÉ's "stars" disappear for two to three months every summer.
However, the RTÉ top earners' figures for 2004 (The Irish Times, June 29th) suggest that it's probably a good thing. If they had to be paid to work the extra months, the increase in the licence fee would surely be punitive.
