Madam, - Donald Clarke's robust response to child critics was in some ways unnecessary (The Ticket, January 19th): children may reject "adult" reviews after they've actually seen the films, but their reasons for going to a particular movie are based on other factors.

I am more concerned about reviews which will put older viewers off going to see films which they would have enjoyed. A good example would be his recent review of Miss Potter. I have yet to meet anyone over 50 who didn't enjoy it, finding nothing dreary in the script and in no way put out that it contains little of the excitement which young Mr Clarke seems to crave.

So why not enliven The Ticketby inviting readers to send in alternative reviews? - Yours, etc,
