Sir, - David Smith (December 6th), in response to my rather tongue-in-cheek letter of Dec 1st, highlights some excellent points regarding Dublin Bus. I unreservedly accept the many positive elements of Dublin Bus as outlined by Mr Smith but, as a paying customer of any service, I also expect the following:

1. That the service be run at least within a reasonable timeframe of the published schedules.

2. That the mode of transport be clean.

3. That as a paying customer I am treated with some respect by the company providing the service.

From my experience of Dublin Bus, it fails on all three counts. Some improvement in these areas, coupled with the positive elements already highlighted by Mr Smith, and Dublin would have a bus service to be proud of. - Yours, etc.,
