No time for abstentionism?

A chara, – While it was very pleasing to see the mutually respectful meeting at Hillsborough Castle between Queen Elizabeth and Martin McGuinness, it makes it even harder to fathom the continuing refusal of Sinn Féin MPs to take their places at Westminster, where they would be able to use their votes and influence to help avoid or mitigate the effect of Brexit on the whole of Ireland.

Given the votes cast in the North in favour of Remain, many of which must have been from Sinn Féin voters, one would have thought that the party’s MPs would attend the House of Commons to represent the view of those voters that the six counties should remain united with the rest of Ireland, in the EU. – Is mise,
