Madam, - I'm curious to know if any of your readers felt as let down as I did by Brian Kennedy's feeble rendition of the National Anthem before the Ireland-Wales rugby international last Sunday. Not only was the singing less than stirring, but to be reading the text from a folder was close to insulting.
This was in stark contrast to soprano Cara O'Sullivan's gutsy rendition of the Welsh National Anthem, Mae hen wlad fy nhadau, which, being the consummate professional, she sang from memory and in Welsh. - Yours, etc,
COLETTE McGAHON-TOSH, (Head of Vocal Studies, Royal Irish Academy of Music), Whitestown, Greenore, Co Louth.
