Madam, - Marketeers have now displaced journalists in the battle for the hearts and minds of the Irish reading public.
Last Sunday the major newpapers slugged it out to gain readers, not with good, serious journalism but with CDs of Valentine's Day love songs.
It's not that I am a killjoy when it comes to love songs but when I need a CD of love songs I go to a record shop, not to a newsagent. I hope The Irish Times will resist this trend. - Yours, etc.,
