Sir, – Political opponents of Sinn Féin have been highly critical of its uncontested change of party leadership.
This is said to show an absence of democracy in that party. What, then, are we to make of the fact that there was no leadership contest in the elevation of Seán Lemass, Garrett FitzGerald, John Bruton, Bertie Ahern, Brian Cowen, Eamon Gilmore, Brendan Howlin, Peter Robinson, and Arlene Foster? – Yours, etc,
