Kilkenny’s victory

Sirs, – No transfer fees. No egomaniacs. Coolness under pressure (and Galway put Kilkenny under enormous pressure, make no mistake about that, although they were fortunate to have 15 players on the pitch for the second half). No so-called professional team can surpass these qualities.

Above all there is pride in wearing the Kilkenny jersey. If Ireland’s rugby players can match these qualities, and if the players have the belief, they can win the World Cup. But nothing less will suffice. – Yours, etc,

GERALD MORGAN,

Dublin 2.
