Ireland and neutrality

A chara, – Once again the antics of two of our TDs at Shannon Airport give an opportunity to a tiny minority of your readers to engage in the usual anti-American and pro-“military neutrality” nonsense. This is largely due to our very advantageous geographical location. If, like the Baltic states, we lived next door to Vladimir Putin, we would have been staunch members of Nato long ago.

We should remember that the first international organisation that the former unwilling members of the Soviet Empire joined was Nato. They all joined the EU after that. – Is mise,
