Madam, - Does Wicklow county manager Eddie Sheehy think that the image accompanying his article (Weekend, March 4th) is less selective than the image that accompanied Peter Murtagh's article of February 11th)?

The image in Sheehy's article would appear to simulate the view from a point at least half-a-mile offshore, from which the inland countryside dwarfs the proposed development. This is disingenuous to say the least, as not many people will have the privilege of seeing the development from this perspective. Most of us will view it from terra firma.

I, for one, am getting a little tired of the beneficiaries of this scheme being trotted out. Mr Sheehy mentions, as do others, the Sailing Club, Ridge Angling Club, Rowing Club, Sea Scouts, etc. I would be surprised if the combined membership of these clubs exceeds more than a few hundred people. Their number pales into insignificance compared with the population of Greystones and the surrounding area. There have been more than 6,000 objections to the proposed development as it stands.

Mr Sheehy and Wicklow County should lobby the Government for funds to improve the harbour area instead of throwing up their hands and telling us there is no other alternative to the current proposal. There are always alternatives. The biggest beneficiaries of this plan will be the property developers. What else is new? - Yours, etc,
