Sir, - At the weekend I attended two major sporting events with my nine-year-old son, Ross.
On Friday we attended the Smurfit European Golf Open at the K Club. At the entrance a notice stated: "Free admission - Children under 16 years accompanied by an adult."
On Saturday we drove to O'Moore Park, Portlaoise to see the GAA senior football championship qualifiers. I enquired and was told: "One price for all - €20 each for your son and yourself." O'Moore Park was far from full in spite of four competing teams, including the home county, Laois.
