Madam, - The Office of Public works has recently seen fit, through the medium of advertising in the national press, to ask if we are prepared for flooding this winter.
One can only wonder how the typical household is likely to be prepared for such a likely event when drains and street gullies are choked with muck and detritus and permanently left in such a state by many local authorities. One wonders if the OPW has seen fit to ask the same question of the local authorities. Somehow I doubt it. - Yours, etc,
