Sir, – I enjoyed Rory Crotty's flag-waving contribution to the Easter Rising centenary debate on Saturday's letters page (March 19th). I enjoyed it a little less when inexplicably republished in Monday's edition. By the end of the week, its appeal may have waned completely. – Yours, etc,
RA McDERMOTT,
Rathgar,
Dublin 6.
Sir, – Rory Crotty wants the Tricolour to remain flying over schools and other buildings all year round, not just on special occasions such as the anniversary of the Easter Rising. I think not. The flags would quickly become dirty, frayed and neglected, and school budgets are so tight that regular laundering of the flag and provision of replacement flags every few years would be impossible. – Yours, etc,
GARRY BURY,
Dalkey,
Co Dublin.
