Madam, - I empathise with Sorcha Ní Mhurcú (December 9th). Like her, I admired (past tense) Tom Humphries as an objective sports commentator. Like her, I was disappointed with his column of December 2nd. Unlike her, I can rationalise his sentiments.
He is, like most non-Corkonians, jealous. He envies Cork's proud history, Cork's traditions, Cork's achievements - and above all Cork's ability to produce people who, at times of need, will lead where others fear to tread.
