Madam, - As a regular stroller on Sandymount strand promenade for many years, I am offended by the sight of the ugly and very large steel roller-shuttered structure attached to the Martello Tower, facing out to sea. It has been in position for the past 10 years or more.
I was under the impression that the law prevented the defacement of national monuments, one of which is, I presume, the Martello Tower.
Is it not time that the National Monuments Department or Dublin Corporation or the Dublin Port and Docks Board - or whoever is responsible - did something to have this eyesore removed? - Yours, etc,
