Sir, – I habitually change my electricity provider every 13 months by taking advantage of the ridiculous introductory offers and marketing and business models of the various electricity providers. This entails no more than comparing unit costs then providing my meter number, current meter usage reading and filling out a pretty idiot-proof form over the internet.
So why do I need a “smart meter”? I think the answer lies more in the “smart” meter suppliers than in the actual necessity for this latest wheeze. – Yours, etc,
