Sir, - Christmas has come early for Joe Public. Not only may we see more taxis on the street but the Revenue Commissioners may find out why a taxi driver would pay £80,000 for a plate and yet only earn enough to pay £2,000 or £3,000 in tax. It's almost too good to be true. I can't wait to come home at Christmas. I am not sure which I will enjoy more - actually getting a taxi or repeating these sentiments to the driver on the way home! - Yours, etc.,
