Sir, - I am a software engineer who spent five years in college getting my qualification. The cost of this I would conservatively put at £15,000 a year, between fees, living expenses and lost earnings - say around £75,000 in total. I fear that my ability to earn a living and protect my investment my be undermined by the totally unregulated training of new engineers. Can I too write off the cost of my investment against tax ? - Yours, etc.,
