Sir, – I refer to Aodhán Ó Riordáin’s article (Opinion, March 21st) about the ongoing debate about the State payment of €100m to teachers in fee-paying schools. This represents just over 1 per cent of the Department of Education and Skills budget. Imagine, if the other 99 per cent of the budget generated the same amount of discussion. Then, we might have a proper debate about real issues impacting on people. – Yours, etc,
