Sir, - Would that we had many more people of the moral calibre of Dr Mary Condren (Rite and Reason, July 30th) and especially that we had some people in Government courageous and generous enough to take up her challenge!
Her idea of a referendum would give an opportunity to take positive action to all those whose consciences are troubled by the contrast between the relative luxury of their own lives and the suffering of starving millions. It is encouraging to see The Irish Times giving space to columnists such as Dr Mary Condren to galvanise us. - Yours, etc.,
