Sir, – The Sam Maguire Cup may have taken up temporary residence outside of the county this year but the people of Listowel can feel justifiably proud that they have lifted a trophy that cannot be taken away from them ("Listowel wins tidiest small town award", September 29th).
Having moved back here some years ago I can vouch for the concerted effort that the local committee has put in over a long period in keeping Listowel clean and tidy and making it an attractive small town to live and work in.
From the varied assortment of trees and flowering perennials in the main square, to the team of local painters that always seems to find a new colour that contrasts beautifully with the shop next door, to the wonderful and uniquely lit town park that keeps many a family, or just a man and his dog, entertained for hours. – Yours, etc,
