Madam, - In reply to Barry Roche's article "Why it's boom time in Pharmachem City" (Weekend, August 14th), we also applaud the boom time with job and wealth creation in this sector, but we worry about the bang time.
The chemical industry is far from benign. It is a high-risk industry involving explosive substances and we as residents, together with workers, fear for our health and safety.
We have grave reservations about the ability of the Environmental Protection Agency to monitor the chemical industry as we believe the EPA to be under-funded, under-resourced and understaffed. - Yours, etc.,
