Madam, - As one of the politicians "outraged" when Noel O'Gara sought to convert Dartmouth Square into a car park, I can assure Peter Molloy (November 28th) that I have also always opposed the use of Leinster Lawn as a car park for the Oireachtas, and have repeatedly called for the lawn's restoration. The Dáil record will show a number of unfulfilled promises to restore the lawn given to me by the Minister responsible.
However, Mr Molloy is quite correct to point out that the parallel between the two cases. As was the case with Mr O'Gara, the Oireachtas is in contravention of the planning process in continuing to use Leinster Lawn as a car park. - Yours, etc,
JOHN GORMLEY TD, Green Party Chairman, Dáil Éireann, Dublin 2.
