Madam, - We the undersigned, from the faculty of business in Dublin Institute of Technology, wish to record our objection to the report "Controversy in DIT" in your issue of December 12th.
The process currently under way in relation to allegations in DIT is not complete. We should also point out that both parties were sworn to confidentiality yet your article makes free use of confidential information which must have been leaked.
This prompts the question: who leaked, to what advantage, and to what end? It also raises serious issues about the naming of individuals in your report, given that those individuals are bound contractually and ethically to silence and cannot defend their good names.
We would urge all parties to avoid using external pressures to influence what is an internal, ongoing and confidential process. - Yours, etc,
Dr JOSEPH COUGHLAN, Dr HENRY McCLAVE, Dr KATRINA LAWLOR, (On behalf of more than 50 members of staff), Faculty of Business, DIT, Aungier Street, Dublin 2
