Brexit and a strategic risk

Sir, – The Taoiseach's comments in his speech to the Confederation of British Industry that "Ireland's commitment to the EU is clear and unqualified" is rather worrying ("Brexit prospect a 'major strategic risk for Ireland', says Taoiseach", November 9th). Given that we voted No to the initial referendums on the Nice and Lisbon treaties it is clear that there is, at the very least, a large percentage of the population who could be described as Eurosceptic.

Regrettably one of the Taoiseach’s shortcomings is that he is prone to hyperbole.– Yours, etc,

Sir, – I see that the Taoiseach believes that “the prospect of Brexit is a strategic risk”. There’s only one thing to do, Enda – put the Army on standby. – Yours, etc,
