Madam, - A report on proposed bus corridors in Dún Laoghaire (The Irish Times, January 30th) suggests that agreement will be reached with the residents of Mount Merrion Avenue in relation to the proposal to provide a QBC in the avenue. The Mount Merrion Avenue Residents Association wishes to make it clear that no such agreement has yet been reached and that it is premature to assume it will.
It is difficult to understand the decision to announce 12 new QBCs for Dún Laoghaire before publication of the study by Dublin Bus of the bus network and a resolution of the management of heavy goods vehicles to and from Dublin Port, following the opening of the Port Tunnel. Both of these matters will have a direct impact on the viability of bus corridors. - Yours, etc,
