MICHELLE DALY ,
Sir, - As a former staff member of Aer Lingus made redundant on October 20th last, I feel it is incredibly insulting that a company which found it necessary to sack so many employees just months ago can now state that it could "afford" to lose €2 million daily for a number of days in defiance of the pilots' union IMPACT.
No situation is black or white, but one does have to wonder at the sanity of the "macho" management at Aer Lingus and its priorities for our national airline.
When I and so many of my colleagues were let go, our hopes of returning to the airline were high. Now, however, the reality is that there may not be an Aer Lingus in the future for any crew - much less crew made redundant. - Yours, etc.,
