Madam, - A front-page report in your edition of May 5th says that a US soldier "convicted by a court-martial of killing [an Iraqi or Afghan\] prisoner by hitting him with a rock was reduced in rank to private and discharged, but did not serve any jail time."
In George Dubya's Texas (the "killer State") can anybody hazard a guess as to what would have happened to this man - particularly if he was black? - Yours, etc.,
