Abortion rights and consequences

A Chara, – Equating the “right to bear arms” (Letters, July 2nd) in the American constitution and the human right to bodily autonomy and safe medical practice is comparing apples and oranges.

Irish women who are raped or victims of incest or whose pregnancies are medically unsustainable, continue to suffer under an inhumane and medically unsound law in Ireland.

They do not have a choice to exercise their right to determine their medical and mental health.
