One for those on the higher salaries to ponder

Sir, – Strong opinions have been expressed in recent weeks regarding the aural rebranding, or jingle refresh, implemented by RTÉ Radio 1 management.

One underlying rationale has apparently been to achieve a degree of branding consistency. However, it seems to me that there is a more fundamental identity issue at play. I have become quite confused about a core issue: what is the station name?

I hear, variously, ORRTE a simple RTÉ, or lately and increasingly, ARRTE. One for those on the higher salaries to ponder. – Yours, etc,

LORCAN BROPHY,

Maynooth,

Co Kildare.
