Sir, – In Co Louth, the ballot paper included the names of 24 aspiring TDs. It was so long, one could not spread it out on the restricted polling booth enclosure, making it difficult to find particular names.
We should reconsider moving to single-seat constituencies with full transferable voting.
It would have the benefit of a shorter ballot paper, quicker completion of the count, a better chance of all the candidates completing a full canvass of the electorate and likely a more openly transparent election. It would avoid same-party candidates competing against one another. – Yours, etc,
