Repairing songs

Sir, – Frank McNally makes a sensible suggestion for “a national song-repair competition” (An Irishman’s Diary, September 20th).

If it ever gets off the ground, will some competitor please repair the first line of Lonely Banna Strand, “It was on Good Friday morning, all in the month of May”? When was there ever a Good Friday in the month of May? – Yours, etc,
