Sir, – I am very disappointed that Vera Pauw’s contract has not been extended (“FAI parts company with manager Vera Pauw after six-hour board meeting”, Sport, August 29th).
She can be proud of her achievements and her abiding legacy will be creating a confident Irish women’s football team that qualified, for the first time, for the World Cup.
I wish her well for the future. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – It was interesting that the FAI felt it was time to move on from Vera Pauw, who guided Ireland to the finals of the World Cup.
This is the same crowd who think that men’s football is going somewhere under Stephen Kenny.
It seems to me that there is a double standard in place in the boardroom of the FAI. – Yours, etc,
