Sir, – Further to “Minister under pressure to assert ‘authority’ over RTÉ controversy” (News, August 21st), I, for one, welcome the absence from the media of Minister for Culture, Arts, and Media Catherine Martin.
In what way would it assist the new management of RTÉ, and in particular the director general Kevin Bakhurst, to have the Minister commentating on the management actions that are required and are being undertaken, including the sundering of the links with Ryan Tubridy? Short of taking over the 9am daily radio slot, I am not sure what the Minister can practically do as she awaits the expert advisory reports that she has commissioned. – Yours, etc,
