Sir, – As a TV licence payer, I regret that the talented businessman David McRedmond has ruled himself out of the race to run RTÉ (News, April 17th).
Kevin Bakhurst is obviously an excellent candidate in his own right but his experience would seem to lie entirely in the area of news and current affairs broadcasting.
Surely his appointment as director general will simply reinforce the seeming iron grip that RTÉ's news and current affairs division seems to exert over the Donnybrook campus, that arid oasis of repeats? – Yours, etc,
