Sir, – Across the country, numerous families provide unpaid care for elderly parents and relatives.
They are the unseen carer group providing valuable support to keep our elderly in their homes. Little is spoken about the personal, physical and mental strain this places on individuals, their relationships, their families and their careers. Aged generally in their forties, fifties and sixties, they sacrifice weekends and holidays providing care. Busy workers with busy lives, they have to organise care for their parents during the week and then step in to do a full-time weekend caring role minding an elderly relative.
