Sir, – I very much enjoyed Karlin Lillington’s piece about having a sense of perspective on the problems of fewer employee perks compared to the impact of job losses (“Google’s cuts to perks feel like a red herring to bigger issues facing tech”, Business, April 6th).

The line from Oscar Wilde’s The Model Millionaire that “it is better to have a permanent income than to be fascinating” comes to mind! – Yours, etc,
