Sir, – I have a limited knowledge of the rules and strategies of rugby. However, given the excitement of a Grand Slam weekend, I wish to pay tribute to Matt Williams for his unfailingly wonderful articles in each Saturday’s Irish Times. Over the months he has broadened my knowledge of the game with insights from his career. He embellishes his views with relevant stories, anecdotes and philosophy. He excelled himself this weekend with an hilarious account of his journey through security at Dublin Airport (“A truly exasperating incident in an airline queue reflected travails of the Ireland team”, Sport, March 18th). His article awoke me from my Saturday morning sleepiness as I was compelled to laugh out loud. His article was wonderful and set me up in a positive mood for the clash with England. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Matt Williams tells his tale so well, and a hearty laugh was just what I needed before the match. – Yours, etc,
