A chara, – “Four contestants for Ryan’s seat on the Late Late Show” (News, March 17th). While acknowledging the qualities and experience of the current favourites who have been on our TV screens for many years, is it not time for a new face from either within the RTÉ campus or even beyond? A new face and a new format for the show would be so refreshing. – Yours, etc,
BRIAN E McELROY,

Sir, – I see that Ryan Tubridy is standing down as the Late Late Show host. Time for a change, I think, but let’s hope his bosses have the sense to persuade him to continue his stewardship of the Late Late Toy Show. He has really made that his own and I can’t imagine that anyone could do it better. – Yours, etc,
LOUIS HOGAN,
Wicklow.
Sir, – The news that a broadcaster was stepping down from his show was the first item on the RTÉ news at 1pm on Thursday.
With all that’s going on in the world, the station’s choice of main headline was odd, to say the least ! – Yours, etc,
TADHG McCARTHY,
Bray,
Co Wicklow.
Sir, – First item on the RTÉ radio news bulletin was the earth-shattering announcement that Ryan Tubridy is leaving the Late Late Show. Item two was the impending meltdown of the banking system. Item three was the war in Ukraine. Is this the news coverage quality we pay the licence fee for? – Yours, etc,
JOHN RYAN,
Cork.
Sir, – The words “sell by” and “date” spring to mind. – Yours, etc,
TOM GILSENAN,
